complete sets 1-10, large numbers of mass-battle type minis including early orcs/drow, first three icons: ending price $8000...
Well, it's 2,345 minis (not including the red, black, and blue icons)... which makes it about $3.40 per mini.
That's roughly the equivalent of paying $200 for a complete set, so basically the buyer just didn't get any benefit from buying the minis (massively) in bulk. Some of the large quantity minis are relatively valuable (orcs, drow, etc) which sort of makes up for the fact that there aren't 84x any of the rares.
In terms of money to be made, the seller is going to have to pay almost $400 in eBay and Paypal fees, but got lucky and made about as much as they would have made by breaking down the collection (before the current recession) except without doing any of the work. | | | |

| Right now, being en ebay seller and looking at this auction makes me go wow. My worries is the buyer though. 0 feedback...will he be a dead beat? 8k plus another chunk for shipping on top of it all is a lot of money after all...on plasticrack..but then again if I had the cash...I need to slow the addiction...haha.

| Not surprising, generally when a bulk offer is made, there is a significant discount to be had, often on the order of 50% (or even more).
I suspect the seller used data from various sources, totalled up what he felt the pile was worth and posted that price, and hoped someone would be willing to actually meet it. It appears that the first time the buyer bellied up, not at all surprising with a new account and 0 feedback. Ouch. Of course when trying to sell something potentially that pricy you want to set the starting point reasonably high so you do not get lowballed or overlooked, so even the listing fee will be a hit.
Hey even I don't have close to 85 Orc Archers (anymore), even counting the Gencon ones. (Now Orc Warriors or Spearmen are another story....grin) | |

He then went to 7k, no sale so far as I know.
Now he's at 6k.
The entire time, he's quoted that the list price of these minis is $9500.
If he gets down to 2k I might be able to afford to buy, hehe.
My biggest irk with them is that he only has one of each card, period. Meh.

The largest lot I have previously tracked was 1300 minis that sold for $2080 with 120 rares. That is a $1.60 a fig. IMHO the seller would do good to sell the lot for an average of $1.25, maybe $1.50 a fig max, or about $3500.00.
Lots are a great way to buy minis, not such a great way to sell them.

The set poster isn't that rare. It is the "minis to the max" promo poster that is really rare. (I have yet to ever see a picture of one). | |
