This is set to be released in November - new boxed set   There's a photo of the front cover in the info I have, and looking closely, it says "INCLUDES DICE, DUNGEON TILES AND TOKENS"  Does it make any sense to anyone here to release any "starter" set for 4.0 without minis   Or am I missing something   Anyone have inside info

Makes sense to release a starter set sans minis for costing reasons. With minis the 'starter set' would run 2-3 times what it does. As is, $16 for a module, dungeon tiles, a copy of the rules (presumably a stripped-down PHB or more likely the same starter rules found in Keep on the Shadowfell) and dice isn't a bad deal. Even better when it's $11 on amazon.

I'll hazard a guess that the starter module is heavily cross-marketed with Demonweb.

I can definitely see a D&D starter set not including minis. Minis (despite popular misconception) are not required for 4e play. They do make things go more smoothly but they're an optional accessory. From a marketing perspective it might also be desirable to not include minis in the set designed to introduce non-D&D players to the game. Minis do have stigma among certain segments of the population.

I got to see it at PAX, looked like a good deal.
