Hmm... I'm looking at Z26-Z27; by the first chart, that's Northwest (and pretty much land-locked). By the second one, it's due west and completely land-locked. Where exactly should they be? | | CHAMPION OF THE CURRY GOLEM!

The coordinates I gave were center mass for placement. The country itself would span North-South Y27 to AB27 and West-East Z25-Z29. My bad for not stating it clearer earlier. The majority of their cities would be dotted along the coast with a few smaller ones/fortified keeps deeper in the interior. I can imagine the mountains and deep forest areas being just to dangerous to maintain any sort of pressence with the exception of a couple keeps guarding focal points like a mining operation or timber harvesting. | | You see! | | Wow, lots of civilizations in the Pine Woods. I'd like to keep that kind of 'padding' open in between the Northmen and the rest of the civilizations. Possibly pad that ring of land (probably the size of a few states in the US) with heavy monsters, one's PC's don't want to run into, and ones empires feel no need to press deep in to to exterminate? I'm thinking trolls. Trolls and similar kin that would not only deture adventures and kingdoms (making it easier for the Tribes to be cut off from the rest of the world), but it would also fit in nicely with the Nordic/Asgardian scheme of monsters. | | Champion of the Aspect of Tempus

| Has anyone taken the three islands on the eastern side (roughly centered on T44)? If not, I'd love to snag them.
Location- Three large, easterly islands R-W, 43-45 (meaning approximately left-to-right squares 43-45, top-to-bottom rows R-W) Race-Draconic (kobolds, dragonborn, dragonspawn?, dragons, half-dragons) Size-Not yet determined (likely will be very large...metropolis population +) Allignment- CN general information- Here there be dragons. Dragons are native to these islands due to the unique agriculture and environment. There are tall peaks, a sandy desert to the east, and a mixture of jungle and forest. Over the centuries, the dragons have developed a bizarre mixture of tribal groupings combined with a couple of sizable cities, if they can be called cities. The ruins of an ancient civilization, probably destroyed by the dragons long ago when they first arrived, cover this region, and the dragons now use them. Along with the true dragons, various draconic creatures also have come to inhabit this region. Some were born (half-dragons, dragonborn), others were brought (kobold slaves). Yet others came of their own free will, seeking the power of the dragons (spellscales, sorcerers of various races, dragon shaman, etc). The bustling dragon cities are a stark contrast to the dragon-worshipping barbaric tribes interspersed throughout the region. This region is in a constant state of flux, as law and chaos, good and evil live close enough that conflict is inevitable.
The Dragon Overlords (a council that loosely rules the region) keeps relative order through fear. No one wishes to bring the focus of angry dragons upon them. They have also developed a system of challenges by combat and use it for everything from determining guilt to replacement of an Overlord.
The region sees limited trade/interaction with other regions.

I think you can lump the Nordic/Germanic group together, same thing really, just ones a subclass of the other. Also, the Jotunheim Frost Giants and Muspelheim Fire Giants are a lot different from the regular type, and I'd guess a good 20 higher CR than their regular kin (but I don't know if it's necissary to add them, being so few of them). | | Champion of the Aspect of Tempus

Since Sasquatch and Chuckles were so excited about this world being created, I figured I'd create an account and give it a go.
Could I get the island next to the Undead Empire? Y52 and Y53
I talked to Sasquatch and I'll work to create some type of civilization that can exist near a warring undead island.
Thanks

OK Adam,
This is all I want from your end. A detailed port city (probably the main launch point for epic adventurers travelling to my island), and a creepy gothic feel to your island (look through "Heros of Horror" for inspiration).

Honest answer: When writing as if in conversation (such as directing and then illiciting a response on a forum), the normal format is a one or two line break in between sentences. Since people don't normally transitition from one thought directly into something unrelated, the extra space indicates a longer pause and thereby, should, more realisticly simulate an actual conversation.

I like humans in that area better anyway. Since you have such a large area, will there be a nomadic tribe of some sort?

Venport: thanks for the comment and Tentatively I have mentioned a potential trade arrangement with your Sahagin empire. Its just an idea if it doesn't fit with your ideas then concider it gone.
Devasque: I also mentioned a past conflict that could have been with your lands. Once again if it doesn't fit with your plans or history then the Yuan-ti attacked someone else or the attack was so minor in the sceme of things it didn't make your history books.

| The Isle of the Magi (tentative title)
Location-X15(requesting) Race-Multiple Size-400 mile island Alignment-Neutral gen info-This is a diminutive and geographically remote island that is home to some of the most prominent houses of arcane magic in all the realm. Located on the SouthEastern side of the island is its one and only harbor. The rest of the island is completely surrounded by an expansive reef that has, over time, claimed many an unsuspecting vessel. Paramount to the island is its Academy of Arcane Magic (still to be named), which is located on the Western side of the island. The most distinguishing feature of the school is its circular arrangement of Towers. There has been a Keep built for each of the eight schools of arcane magic. Each Tower stretches up nearly 200 feet into the sky. Inside each, there are 12 levels. As one's proficiency with magic grows, that individual will continue to gain access to its higher levels. This access will progressively involve more powerful items and information, and eventually even perhaps an artifact. More to come...

| When each area is complete it should have to go up for some type of review and approval process.
It could be approved as is. Sent back for Tweaking. Or rejected.
I know this sounds harsh after people have put a lot of work into thier respective area, but if this is every to be a workable setting it needs some controls.
How this review process is handled is up to the community.
I will gladly put Zohran up for the first such review as soon as I finish it. | | Yes I am Gelatinous.

| The Wastes of Rhuin Is it too late to snatch up the area north of Mr. Chuckles' Dwarven Outpost? I was looking at squares J37-41, K38-41, and L39-40. I wanted to turn these plains into a desolate area that has been destroyed by centuries of war and turmoil. They will be home to ruins of several different fallen kingdoms. They will hold many secrets of times past, nearly all of which have long since been forgotten. | |

| OK. I'm takin' island letter "AF" over from Adam, since he's set up a different account (acolyte) and wants to create his school for the arcane.
****NEW LAND****
MONTAVRAIL POPULATION: 89% human, 7%construct, 4% various CLIMATE: Dreary. The dark seems to come early on some nights, and not on others. The sun sets randomly between 5:30 and 9:00.
Montavrail is dark land, with no clear king or baron. Two of the more well known tales of the land are of the "Puppet Master" and of the "Nightmare Candyman."
The "Puppet Master" is actually a scholarly old gentleman by the name of Dr. Einrich Von Nordenstine. He is a scientist and surgeon who has a pechant for creating...things. He claims to be working on a cure for the plague, which still lingers from the strength it held over a decade ago. Most people suspect he has darker intentions, and many adventurers have slain beasts who appear to be stitched together by a combination of magic and medicine. He lives in a grand old mansion on a hill at the north of the island, and villagers in the nearby town often try to calm travelers by telling them that they will get used to the screams. The mansion has an enormous courtyard garden, full of statues and flowers, which are sickly-looking and said to be kept alive only by magic. Some people who venture near the mansion claim, that at night, the statues come to life and move about the courtyard as if they were sleepwalking humans searching for point of escape from their flowery prison. Dr. Nordenstine does have a son, Finian (Fin-ee-yon), who lives with him in the mansion. An extremely intelligent little boy, who, in his little black bowtie and with his neatly combed hair, is the picture of a well-kept youth; except for a large patch of scar on the left side of his face (which appears was caused by chemical burn). The boy often visits the town to get supplies for his father and his extreme cheerfulness and overly friendly demeanor is unsettling at best. He tends to stare at people (especially pretty girls) with a grin that has made many a villager's skin crawl.
Most of these girls eventually go missing.
*NOTE* DM'S EYES ONLY The boy, Finian, is in actuality a 52 year old man trapped in a child's body. What people think is Dr. Nordenstine is really only a large puppet which Finian magically animates to protect his secret and maintain his illusion of youth. Finian is actually the "puppet master," and creates his monstrocities purely for his perverse pleasure. At any time, there may be up to three young girls held at the mansion. Since the mansion has no dungeons, Finian has dug several small pits in the earthen floor of the basement. These pits are eight feet deep and six feet in diameter, and each one is kept in a location far enough from the others, so that no contact can be made among the prisoners. Finian does not seem to have any clear goals, other than to maintain his sick forms of entertainment.
He is monster in the truest sense of the word.
