The Monsterpocalypse CMG will launch with over 80 pre-painted plastic figures in the initial set and will include large-scale monsters, destroyable city structures, and vehicles.
I missed that bit of info the first time reading about the set as well. :) | | Thanks, realmaster. Let's split up!!!!!

| | Looks pretty cool. I signed up for the mailing list and hopefully the obvious questions will be addressed soon, i.e. Scale, Price and the one I'm really wondering, will they have actual likenesses of some classics (Goldar, Rodak, Ultraman, Godzilla etc.) or if they will make minis that look close, but enough differences to avoid a lawsuit. | | Eye dun no why youse guys think im not relly a person im jimgang from canada but im moving to cali as soon as i get a master card -Jimgang So, you stand at your grave, Has your soul yet been taken away? | I played this at GTS also. It was fun, and I think the pieces looked pretty sharp (especially the powered up ones (middle right side of the Toy fair pictures, it's the same model as the middle top picture, but powered up). Top right picture shows both forms together (I played that one in my demo).
It's really..REALLY...all about smacking stuff down, especially the buildings, and throwing stuff around (like my opponent did with my monster...threw me INTO a building).
Plus when you destroy a building with a high population you gain life (*burp*)...

| The game store near my work had a demo version of the game. Sweet merciful Nylarothotep the game looks good. The monsters and building were well sculpted and painted. I'm going to swing by another store Wednesday for a starter and boosters.

| It's pricey.....
Starters are $24.95, you get a Monster in it's regular form and hyper form. Two buildings and four units (small monsters or vehicles).
Unit Boosters are $12.99, with one building and four small units.
Monster Boosters are $12.99, with a Monster in it's regular form and Hyper form.
The game looks bloody complex as well. Although there are some funny bits too. Like apartment buildings will let certain monsters heal by snacking on the people inside.
I picked up two starters, a monster and unit booster. I'm strongly considering snagging another monster booster and a couple of minion boosters. Then I'll hit the trading market and possibly the secondary one as well.

I do wish it wasn't a collectible mini game however. It's a bit of a pain to get your squad just right.

| But a non-collectible game doesn't make the company as much money or lend itself to organized play. For those concerned with the cost, you can play the game for free on Vassal--A Raw has created a module for it. We are trying to get a league going on Friday and Saturda nights and I'd be happy to show people around and teach them about the game. The rules are available for free on the MonPoc website. The basic concepts of the game are relatively easy to learn--it's the special abilities, etc. that take more time to learn. The rules are also well written and tight.
Back to cost, you need a starter. That'll give you your first monster pair plus the rules, map, some units and dice. If you want to be as frugile as possible, you then just go to ebay or a online store and buy the buildings and units you need to support whatever monster you get. The rules allow for 12 buildings and 15 units but you are not required to have that many, although it is recommended. I would estimate that you you could do all that under $80 depending on your choices--some buildings and units are more pricey.
Try a demo or check it out online--it's a great game that does an excellent job of recreating the flavor of monster movies a la Gozilla or shows like Ultraman.
