Hey everyone, I was looking into this game and just read through the PDF of the rules online... I remember a couple of years ago taking interest in how nice some of the pieces looked, but never took the plunge. I was thinking of getting a Starter Set online and then hitting ebay for a lot of commons, not putting a ton of money into it, but enough to get some decent minis to try some games out. Anyone have any suggestions, do's or don'ts, or does anyone by chance have a hunk of common minis they want to unload for a fair price before I hit ebay? Thanks, D.

Make sure you also check out the FAQ's: http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=640
They really expand on the rules and clear up a lot of issues (especially the order of combat).

I think most people will agree that Chrysotic Plague is the weakest set. It's not terrible, but I would only get the few that you like from that set and then focus on the other sets. The Base Set has a lot of great figures, and Anvilborn is also a strong set. As far as Baxar's War and Night Fusion, they're both pretty good...pick whatever you like from those sets.

I started collecting when the first set came out, and found that the abilities got more and more complex with each successive set (not in a bad way :)) So, you might want to start out playing with only minis from the base set to get the basics of the game, then start working in minis from other sets in the order they came out (Base Set, Baxar's War, Chrysotic Plague, Anvilborn, Night Fusion).

As far as which minis you should buy...the list is too long to type!!

You can check out Dreamblade Supreme from the link in my sig below.  It is a microsoft excel based warband generator and colleciton tracker...it has pictures and stats for all Dreamblade minis.
