So much to qualify next year if you don't have a whole mess of carry over points from this year; therefore I doubt any new blood will find it's way into the game at least not competitively.

So which games will the designers of dreamblade be working on next.
I'd be happy to see Rob Heinsoo designing ddm expansions again.

I am going to go ahead and assume you are kidding, since

1) Dreamblade is hardly a "minatures" game in the traditional sense - it's much more a boardgame with collectible pieces

AND

2) Why would anyone want a G.I. JOE minis game?

For everyone sad about cut op then read this.

A player run 1k will be held in response to wizards cutting
OP. It will be held at disposable heroes located in Johnston Rhode Island. The date is unknown because even though I know I can organize this, I need at least 15 players and 1 T.O. the entry will be 20$ and donations are welcome. The prize structure will look something like this...

1st = 350$

2nd = 200$

3rd/4th = 100$

5th/8th = 75$

The format will be constructed and night fusion will be legal.

 everybody come on down and I'll post a date soon.

its a collectible board game with miniatures thats pieces dont appeal to the D&d crowd who for majority of the people who visit wizards are. i frequent this site and other gaming sites and peopl love using figures for cross use Wizards biggest mistake was not capitalizing on this crowd and make pieces compatible with the game or any other rpg purpose. intead most are so bizarre they have no cross use at all. Right there you placed limitations on a game that many others dont have.

Why not Gi Joe. Gi Joe is a major motion picture in development, similiar in popularity to transfomers, has plenty of vehicles and soldiers to chose from, would sell better than dreamblade, and has cross use as many could be used in modern warfare rpg, some for D&D such as stormshadow and cobra-la and other could be used as star war fillins such as destro, most cobra figures. hasbros other big board game with minatures is heroscape and modern soldiers fight orcs and futristic robots. game is far superior to dreamblade

G.I. Joe would be a cool game. Is that what you want to hear?

Why waste time tearing down a game people around here love and enjoy? Go play D&D minis and stop ripping on Dreamblade...please.

Thank you.

Well, I'm hoping this draws more casual players in, and leads to better support for edge tournaments.

I would love to keep playing Dreamblade forever, but honestly it has just gotten to the point where WotC was releasing product faster than players wanted it. Honestly, the game would be in far better shape if Chrysotic Plague was never released and Anvilborn came when it did.

The baes set, BW, and Anvilborn all provided excellent pieces to the game. CP added nothing, but landfill.

But in the end the doom of Dreamblade was it's collectible nature.

I disagree about Chrysotic Plague... it gave us the Scarecrow, the Probability Walker, and the Slaughterwheel among others.

I think the two main problems were the huge difference in the utility of most rares (a few great rares, a few decent rares, and about half terrible figures) from all the sets and the small amount of time between sets.

The real problem, at least here in the Chicagoland area, was that many gamers (and game store employees) badmouthed the game. Most of these were SWM players who felt that DBM was "stealing" money from them. Many felt that SWM should be the game that offered 1Ks and 10Ks. What these idiots didn't understand was that Organized Play was just a marketing tool (draw people in with the lure of "easy money") and, let's face it, if any game DOESN'T need any extra marketing, it's a Star Wars-based game.

I don't think any appreciable number of players were put off by the rapidity of the sets (not any number quantifable by WotC, that is). People were clamoring for MORE pieces, if anything.

I personally will continue playing the game even after its discontinued (it looks this way).  And with the new previews, some new minis look really cool and add new features.

The final word (or axe...) shall be dropped at Gencon... Will see!

Do any of you think that the prize support for Dreamblade will spill over to any of Wizards' other CMG's?

No, I'm pretty sure the support will move into better edge support, and an expectation of lower sales. I would also highly support a 3/year release instead of 4/year...

The amount that came out this last year was ridiculous. I really don't know who thought coming out with this much was a good idea. It never seems to work.

Even magic struggles with 4/year releases (for the casual gamer) and it's a bit cheaper and has a hardcore following, and better resale value. better allocation of quality, in general, too.

4 releases a year is way too many. I'd be happy with a couple.
